What does an air purifier do?
An air purifier is a fan unit that draws the air of a room through a stack of filters and releases it cleaner. A HEPA filter traps fine particles such as PM2.5 smoke, dust, pollen and pet dander, while an activated carbon layer absorbs odours. To work well, it needs to be rated for your room size and run with doors and windows closed.

Why use an air purifier in Thailand?
PM2.5 season, from Chiang Mai to Bangkok
Every year, roughly from January to April, crop burning pushes PM2.5 levels up across northern Thailand, with Chiang Mai hit first. Bangkok has its own haze peaks in the cool season. A HEPA purifier sized for the room keeps the indoor level down while the windows stay closed.

Air purifier FAQ
Do air purifiers really work?
Yes, when the model is rated for the room and runs with doors and windows closed. A HEPA filter traps particles mechanically, so the air that comes out of the machine holds far fewer PM2.5 particles, dust and pollen than the air going in. An undersized purifier in a large open room will struggle to make a difference.
Where should I put my air purifier?
In the room where you spend the most time, usually the bedroom. Leave at least 30 cm of free space around it so it can draw air in, and avoid tucking it behind a sofa or in a corner. Keep the windows of that room closed while it runs.
When should I change the air purifier filter?
The AP-22M, AP-60M and AP-100M have a filter replacement alert that tells you when it is time. Expect it sooner during burning season or near construction work, when the filter fills faster.
Do air purifiers help with mould?
They capture mould spores floating in the air, and a carbon filter reduces the musty smell. They do not remove mould growing on walls: that needs the moisture source fixed and the room ventilated.
Do air purifiers make the air dry?
No. An air purifier filters the air without changing its humidity. If a room feels dry, that comes from air conditioning, not from the purifier.
Can an air purifier remove PM2.5?
